Can’t open a .wps file? Don’t know what application can read it? Both Mac and PC have free apps that you can download and install so you can open a .wps file and save it as a Word file, or whatever you choose.
Here they are:
PC
OpenOffice
Mac
NeoOffice
Simply do this:
- Go to FILE>OPEN
- Make sure it says “all files” under “File Type”
- Navigate to where the .wps file that you want to open is located on your computer
- Open it
The formatting may be off, which is expected, but at least you have the content. All you have to do is reformat it a little and you are good to go!

I am not really sure if best practices have emerged around things like that, but I am sure that your great job is clearly identified. I was wondering if you offer any subscription to your RSS feeds as I would be very interested and can?t find any link to subscribe here.

Okay, I got openoffice downloaded for my Mac and there is no explanation how to convert a .wps file to a usable format nor can I find a way to open a .wps file. Any suggestions?

@Marco They must have changed it. Use NeoOffice (http://www.NeoOffice.org).
Go to FILE>OPEN>make sure it says “all files” under “File Type”, and then open it.
@Douglas Try what I suggested to Marco.

@Marco You’re right. I just confirmed it. Use NeoOffice. I just made the necessary changes to this post to reflect that. Thanks.

NeoOffice is not free. They require a $10 “donation” to download the software.

Hey Gina,
The donation is optional. Here is the download link:

Make sure you download the correct version for your computer.
