How to move your pagefile

01. Go to START>CONTROL PANEL
02. Double-click on SYSTEM. If you do not see it, then click on “Switch to Classic View” on the left, then double-click on SYSTEM
03. Click on ADVANCED
04. Under the PERFORMANCE Section, click on the SETTINGS button
05. Click on the ADVANCED tab
06. Under the VIRTUAL MEMORY section, click on the CHANGE button
07. Select CUSTOM SIZE if it is not already selected
08. Enter “0” for the Initial size (no quotes) and hit the SET button
09. Select a different disk (at the top of the window under DRIVE [VOLUME LABEL])
10. If you want to set a custom size for the pagefile on the new drive, then enter 1.5X the amount of RAM (in MB) in the INITIAL SIZE and 3X the amount of RAM (in MB) in the MAXIMUM SIZE field
11. If you are getting the Low on Virtual Memory error often, then select SYSTEM MANAGED SIZE instead of CUSTOM SIZE
12. Whether you choose Step 10 or Step 11 (you can only do one), click the SET button after you do it
13. Click OK
14. It will say that you need to reboot. Click OK.
15. Click OK
16. Click OK
17. Click YES to reboot machine
18. Done!
